Kim completed her graduate training from the school psychology program at the University of Montana. As part of her training she served a one-year internship on the Northern Cheyenne Indian reservation in Lame Deer, MT focusing on rural and Native American mental health care. As a result of this experience, she broadened her academic scope to include school and mental health counseling.  She moved to Bozeman in 1996 and began serving as a School Psychologist and Counselor in the Bozeman Public School District, working with students in grades K-12.  She earned her license as an LCPC in 2002 and opened a private practice in 2006.

Kim’s ability to provide care in a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment allows her to make strong connections with her clients. While her main theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she is also intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and currently participates in one of the only longstanding DBT programs in Montana. She is well versed in working with adolescents who exhibit multiple emotional issues such as self-harm, substance use, depression and anxiety.  Additionally, she is a recognized specialist in the field of eating disorders and is currently in the process of developing an Intensive Outpatient Program for clients with disordered eating and eating disorders.  The purpose of this program will be to provide outpatient therapy,  nutritional counseling, and support to clients returning from inpatient treatment, as well as to provide additional services for those who would otherwise be forced to leave the state for more intensive care.  This IOP will be the first program of its kind in Montana and the Northwestern United States. Finally, Kim has recently completed the requirements for certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for severe trauma reprocessing.
